Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez, proudly serves the 2nd District in the Illinois House of Representatives including the southwest communities of Cicero, Berwyn, Brookfield, Lyons, McCook, Riverside and Stickney.
Lisa knows firsthand the challenges of raising a family as a working mother. From her humble beginnings as grocery clerk and member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, to her service in the Cicero Public School System, to her career of service in the State House, Lisa is a proven champion for her community who tirelessly advocates for opportunity and investment in the diverse communities she represents.
Serving as the highest ranking Latino member of the Illinois House of Representatives, Deputy Majority Leader Lisa Hernandez has a demonstrated track record delivering for workers and working families in our community.
As a full-time public servant, Lisa has led efforts for fair wages, to improve working conditions and champion workers rights, and to promote access to equitable, quality education. She has delivered investments for our public schools and community resources to support generations of working families, seniors and children in the Southwest Suburbs. As the Chair of the Democratic Party of Illinois, Lisa has led efforts to increase representation and voter engagement in every corner of the State
